Welcome to Gosforth Lawn Tennis Club based in Newcastle

Glen's Tennis Tip For March:

The characteristics of the incoming tennis ball require players to make tactical decisions. The oncoming ball can differ with regards to its
height, depth, speed, direction and spin. The earlier a player is able to identify accurately the incoming ball, the better the chance of playing the correct response, i.e. defend, rally or attack.

For example, if the ball appears to be travelling quickly and with spin, early preparation of the racquet and a strong contact point infront and to the side will allow the player to produce an effective neutralizing shot.

HERE IS THE LATEST ...........

  • The work to 'rejuvenate' the courts is now completed. YES!!
  • Stop press!!  Congratulations to Glen Newton who has qualified as a Level 2 Tennis Coach. Brilliant!
  • In case you missed the note on the Welcome page (surely not!), the AGM is to be held on March 17th at 7.30pm at The Town House Hotel, 1 West Ave Gosforth. Refreshments will be provided.
  • Apologies for the current state of the courts, it may be the end of February before the necessary 'rejuvenation' work will be done. Fosse (the company doing the work) has a back-log of work due to the recent weather. Before attempting any DIY solutions please read the President's note on the noticeboard in the Clubhouse
