Not surprisingly the diary is a little emptier during the winter months but nevertheless there’s still plenty of tennis.

Social Events

'6 Of The Best' - Hanahana Restaurant, Friday March 12th, 2010 at 7.30pm

An invitation to all members of GLTC (spouse/partners welcome too) to what is expected to be an entertaining evening at the Hanahana Restaurant (45 Bath Lane, Newcastle NE4 5SP)  “…where chefs in traditional robes cook your meal in front of you on hot plates built into the communal dining tables. The chefs in these restaurants are so skilled at slicing, dicing, and frying, that their performance is almost a cabaret in itself…”

The restaurant has tables (each with its own chef) for 8, 10, 12 or 14 people on Friday March 12th at 7.30pm. (Our party therefore needs to total one of those numbers in order to make the table our own.)Hanahana is a Teppan Yaki restaurant and is rated 6 out of 215 restaurants in Newcastle and so booking ahead is essential.

I need to confirm numbers with the restaurant by Fri Mar 5th.If you want to go, send an email to austenh@pacific,net.sg  confirming how many people you’re wanting to book for. You’ll receive an email reply confirming whether or not you have made it in to the group for the night.

'6 Of The Best!!' - Basilico, Friday Jan 15th 2010 at 7.30pm

Review: There was tasty food at Basilico, great company and good fun which added up to 'game, set and match' for the very first 6 Of The Best! Thoroughly enjoyed by all those who came along. Can’t wait for the next one!!

Dec 18th: Xmas Dinner: Only 24 places available at Scalinis at The Three Mile Inn, Great North Rd, Gosforth. Drinks at 7pm, dinner at 7.30pm. Put your name on the list that is on the notice board in the Clubhouse. A £5 non-refundable deposit per head to be paid to Chris Hollins or Richard Bergman by 29th of November at the latest.

If you weren't there you missed a great night out with GLTC's finest (ish)). Thanks to Chris and Rich.

Dec 12th: Family Doubles Fun Event: From 10am -1pm Fancy Dress - must be able to play tennis in it. Prize for best outfit. Please bring wellies. Seasonal refreshments will be available.

Hey, the above event was a great success!!!! A big "Thanks" to all those who turned up and joined in the fun.

Dec 8th: Trophy Presentation!!!! Gosforth Mens Vets - Champions of Group C and Gosforth Ladies Vets Champions of Group B to be presented with the trophies at Blue Flame Sports Club, Forest Hall at 7.30pm

Family Play: On Monday and Friday evenings throughout the year, family use of the courts will take priority.

Social Play: Saturdays and Sundays from13.00 -17.00 all year round and (summertime only - on Wednesday from 18.00)

U12 Girls Division B: Played 2, Won 2, 1st (Won promotion to Div A next year) Well done girls!

U12 Boys Division A: Played 4, Won 1, 4th

U16 Girls Division C: Played 3, Won 1, 2nd

U16 Boys Division: Played 5, Won 4, 2nd

2 courts are needed for all matches except where stated. So that members can be aware of court availability, the dates for the home matches are:
